Vilard Bytyqi

Prof. Ass. Dr. Vilard Bytyqi is a member of the Kosovo Judicial Council elected by the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo. Since 2014 he is a university professor in the field of investigation and criminal law at the Faculty of Public Safety, at the Kosovo Academy for Public Safety and holds the academic title of Assistant Professor. Within the faculty, Professor Bytyqi has exercised various professional and functional tasks and commitments, including: Coordinator of the study program; Officer in Charge of Police Department; member of the Working Group for drafting the Development Strategy of the Kosovo Academy for Public Safety 2019-2022; Head of the Working Group for drafting professional training curricula for the Police and the Police Inspectorate; Head of the Working Group for the evaluation and review of the study program \\\"Public Safety\\\". In 2009 he attended the professional internship in the Department of Civil Registration - CRC Suharekë, at the Ministry of Internal Affairs. While in 2011 he was engaged by the East West Management Institute, where he gave an important contribution to the project for drafting the first Bulletin of judicial practice of the Constitutional Court of Kosovo.
Between 2011 and 2013 he served as an official or head of legal services in several companies, such as \\\"Interpress\\\", \\\"Alma\\\" and \\\"Diambe\\\", while during the years 2014-2016 he was engaged in projects aimed at advancing skills and knowledge through complementary learning for members of marginalized communities, implemented by KAAD and Advancing Together. He has also been an external professor at the college \\\"Juridika\\\" (2013/14) and the Public University of Prizren \\\"Ukshin Hoti\\\" (2016/17, 2018/19). Professor Bytyqi completed his bachelor studies at the Faculty of Law of the University of Prishtina (2011). During his studies he has been a university scholarship holder three times, while for excellent results during his studies he has twice been the laureate of the \\\"Distinguished Student\\\" award. He completed his master studies in Criminal Law at the Faculty of Law of the University of Prishtina (2013).
Whereas, doctoral studies under the mentorship of Prof. Dr. Rexhep Murati graduated from the Faculty of Law of the South East European University in the Republic of Northern Macedonia with a doctoral thesis entitled: \\\"The right to a fair trial in criminal proceedings in Kosovo\\\" (2018). Being an active part in university teaching, he has participated in many scientific conferences, as well as attended study visits to various international institutions. He has published a number of scientific papers in various international and domestic scientific journals in the field of law, namely the rights of the defendant; the right to life; the right to asylum; international criminal courts; anti-corruption field; organization of prisons, protection of the environment through criminal law and other areas. In August 2020 he was elected a member of the Kosovo Judicial Council by the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo.
