The 240th meeting of the KJC is held

Prishtina, October 26, 2020 – The Kosovo Judicial Council (KJC), has held the 240th regular meeting, chaired by the KJC Chair, Skender Çoçaj, in which case the items were discussed and approved according to the agenda.

The Council approved the proposal of the President of the Supreme Court for the appointment, respectively extension of the mandate of Judge Rasim Rasimi as a member / chair of the Panel for Conditional Release, and Judge Beshir Islami, as a stand-by member, for a term of two (2) years.

During this meeting, members of the KJC approved the resignation of the lay judge in the Basic Court in Gjilan, Mr. Sejdi Beqiri. The Council approved the draft decision on the compensation of KJC members.

The Council authorized the Director General of the KJCS to take all necessary actions to initiate recruitment procedures for filling vacancies and announcing vacancies in the administration of the judiciary based on the Law on Budget of the Year 2020.

Mr. Çoçaj, informed the members of the Council about the process of Functional Rule of Law Review, about which they will receive the latest documents prepared by the Ministry of Justice, in order for everyone to contribute with analysis and comments, as it is a very important process for the Kosovo judiciary and is expected to be discussed at the next KJC meeting.

Finally, the Council continued the closed-door meeting to review six (6) disciplinary cases.
